HOOVER, Ala. -- Brian Anderson scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning Wednesday to lift third-seeded Arkansas to a 2-1 win against sixth-seeded Ole Miss at the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

Arkansas (36-19) advances to face the winner of Wednesday's second game between second-seeded LSU and seventh-seeded Alabama. Thursday's contest will take place at 4:30 p.m. CT. Ole Miss (37-21) drops to the loser's bracket, where it will face the loser between LSU and Alabama. That game will take place at 9:30 a.m. CT Thursday.

Jalen Beeks (6-1) earned the win for Arkansas, pitching 2.0 innings in relief with a pair of strikeouts. Barrett Astin started for the Razorbacks, pitching eight innings, scattering five hits and an earned run with four strikeouts.

Arkansas center field Matt Vinson went 3-for-5, while right fielder Tyler Spoon had the team's lone RBI.

Ole Miss got on the board in the top half of the first inning. Tanner Mathis singled to shortstop to open the inning and came around to score on a two-out single by Stuart Turner to put the Rebels up 1-0.

Arkansas answered in its half of the first as Vinson singled through the left side with one out and was plated by an RBI single from Tyler Spoon to knot the score at 1-1.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, Anderson got on via a ground-rule double with one out. He advanced to third on a single by Dominic Ficociello and scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch.

Ole Miss Postgame Quotes

Coach Mike Bianco

Opening statement:

"It was another great pitching duel. I thought Sam was awesome for us and gave us everything he had. Aaron Greenwood had a great performance as well. His performance was similar to last week in Baton Rouge. We were close but came up short."

On his pitchers:

"Both guys were outstanding today. Sam has played very well. He's kept the ball down and he can beat you with that. He and Mayers pitch very similar. They both can throw the ball. Today, Sam's slider was outstanding. The change-up was good as well."

On possibly facing LSU:

"LSU is a very good team. We have to wait and see who wins the game though."

On tomorrow's pitcher:

"Tomorrow, Jacob Waguespack will pitch."

Sam Smith

On today's tough loss:

"We battled all day, but it came down to a wild pitch."

On his performance:

"I was beginning to tire in the fourth inning, but as long as I could throw pitches for strikes, I was okay."

Tanner Mathis

On today's loss:

"Arkansas had everything working for them. They had fastballs, cutters and change-ups for strikes kept us on our toes all game."

Arkansas Postgame Quotes

Coach Dave Van Horn

Opening statement:

"It was a very well played game. Both pitchers and bullpens did a tremendous job. We got out of some jams. We both hit some line drives. We had the unfortunate play that would have been a two-run single and given us a two-run lead going into the ninth and it hits a runner in the foot. It just figures that the game would end on a wild pitch, the most exciting play in baseball next to the sacrifice fly. From our standpoint, we were glad to see it."

On Barrett Astin's performance today:

"He located his fastball extremely well. It had a lot of sink. If you noticed, there were a lot of groundballs. His curveball had a lot of bite on it. He threw a slider cutter. That's two of the last three games that he's given us eight innings."

On playing in tight games:

"We play a lot of tight games. It's almost like its normal now. I do feel like we're swinging the bats a lot better. We actually found the big hit, but it hit a foot and not right field. That's how the game works sometimes. You just try to keep it under control."

Matt Vinson

On winning on wild pitch:

"A win is a win; we'll take it. We would have liked to have gotten the job done in the previous at-bat but it didn't happen and we got the win on the wild pitch. It was good."

On getting an opening game win:

"It's great; we always want to go out into these games and get the win, and it has been a bit of a struggle the last couple of years but we feel good about tomorrow."

Barrett Astin

On winning on a wild pitch:

"I mean, right now, a win is a win. We just wanted to grind out every at-bat today and just compete. Our hitters did a really good job today. But winning on a wild pitch is kind of anti-climactic."

On what was working for him today:

"Pretty much everything; I was going up in the zone and today the ball was moving a lot and I had success."
