Two women charged with chemically endangering a child in East Alabama

Two Etowah County women have been arrested and charged with chemical endangerment of a child.

Tiffanie Angelia Mitchell, 23, of Gadsden, was arrested on May 6 and is charged with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are produced or distributed.   Breanna Latreace Wilson, 18, of Attalla, was arrested on the same charges four days earlier.

"It is simply unacceptable for an adult to endanger a child's life with their choice to use drugs," said Sheriff Todd Entrekin.  "Let these cases be a warning to anyone who chooses to use drugs and endanger the life of an innocent child.  You will be arrested and charged.  You will be held responsible."

Wilson is out on bond, but Mitchell is still behind bars.  She is being held on a $5,000 property bond.

Since 2011, only three cases of chemical endangerment have been reported to the Etowah County Sheriff's Office.  One case is currently under investigation.
