Alabama Governor seeks to delay school tax credits in Act

Posted: Updated:

Monday will not be a day for the "faint of heart" at the Alabama State House. It's the final day of the legislative session.

Governor Robert Bentley wants lawmakers to vote to delay the Alabama Accountability Act for two years. The Act allows parents to pull children out of failing schools, and use a tax credit to attend a better-performing public or private school.

But leadership in the Governor's own party say it's too late to change the act.

If this portion of the Accountability Act is implemented in the fall one of the school districts expected to feel the impact the most could be Birmingham City Schools.

Focus @ 4's Marissa Mitchell speaks with school leaders on what they expect to happen.
