Tour de Cure coming up

The Tour de Cure is coming up in Birmingham, with people riding to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.  The event is Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Vincent's 119.

According to the web site for the event:
  • 25.8 million Americans have diabetes. 
  • 79 million Americans have pre-diabetes. 
  • 1 in 3 children born today will develop diabetes in their lifetime if current trends continue 
  • The total annual economic cost of diabetes in America is estimated to be $174 billion. 
Tour de Cure is..
  • The largest cycling event for diabetes in the country 
  • 60,000+ participants nationwide 
  • Has 86 events in 43 states 
The American Diabetes Association is..
