A 29-year-old Birmingham man charged with capital murder in connection to a 2001 double homicide has been arrested in Virginia.

Cameron Antoin Rayford, out on bond and prohibited from leaving the state of Alabama, was arrested on May 5 in Amherst, Va. after being pulled over by a deputy for driving 100 mph. He was charged with reckless driving and being a fugitive of justice.

Rayford was arrested in May, 2012 for the murders of 29-year-old Kimberly Roy, of Hueytown, and 28-year-old Sandie Lyn Mitchell, of Midfield. The two female victims were found shot to death inside a burned vehicle in Roosevelt City on November 20, 2001.

Rayford was released from jail last May on $150,000 bond.

A passenger in the car Rayford was driving was also arrested. Nikeem Jermal McDory, 21, of Birmingham, was charged with possession of a schedule III drug.

Both men are currently being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Adult Detention Center without bond. Rayford is awaiting transfer to Jefferson County.

Release from the Amherst County Sheriff's Office:

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office arrested a driver on Route 29 on Sunday the 5th for driving 100 MPH.  That alone isn't too unusual.  What was however, was finding the driver was out on bond in Alabama for Capital Murder and wasn't to have left the state.

Cameron Antoin Rayford, a 29 year old male of Birmingham Alabama, was charged with Reckless Driving and now for Being a Fugitive From Justice in Alabama. Records indicate he was charged in Jefferson County Alabama with the Capital Murder of two persons. He was released on a secured cash bond following his arrest in Alabama.

The passenger in the vehicle, Nikeem Jermal McDory, a 21 year old male also of Birmingham Alabama, was charged with Possession of a Schedule III Drug.

Both suspects are being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Adult Detention Center without bond.
