Lockdown lifted at Paul W. Bryant High School

UPDATE:  School leaders call incident at Bryant High School a "food fight." One student was arrested for disorderly conduct.  The code yellow lockdown was required under the school systems crisis plan.

 

A code yellow lockdown has been lifted at Paul W. Bryant High School in Cottondale. Principal Raquel Payne-Giles issued the lockdown Wednesday morning due to an internal disturbance. In a voicemail to parents, Payne-Giles said several students were throwing bags of flour, vinegar, pickles, water and raw eggs.  Some students were also setting off firecrackers. Payne-Giles called the behavior unfortunate and said it will not be tolerated.  An investigation is underway. There are no reports of injuries.

Classes and school activities have returned to their normal routines.
