Lawmakers take aim at school security

MONTGOMERY - AL -

Alabama's public schools could get money to strengthen security. This afternoon, the House passed a bill authorizing a 50 million dollar bond. The money would be used to add security equipment to K-12 schools.

The Public School and College Authority would issue the bond, so it would not go before voters.

Representative Allen Treadaway, (R) Morris, introduced this bill in response to the Sandy Hook shooting.

The bill now goes to the Senate.
