Authorities searching for escaped inmate from Alexander City facility

MONTGOMERY -- Inmate Daniel Lee Bass is considered an escapee from the Alexander City Community Based Facility, the Alabama Department of Corrections announced Wednesday. 

Bass was reported missing from his job site at approximately 12:30 p.m. after failing to return from a restroom break.  All appropriate law enforcement agencies were notified at the time of the escape.

Bass is a white male, 5-feet-9 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with brown eyes and red hair.  He received a five-year sentence for theft of property in Shelby County on September 6, 2012, and he was scheduled to be released on March 8 of next year after being denied parole in February.
