TechBits: technology & launguage (4.17.13)

The technology world is changing how we use many words.  One of the most notable examples is a tech word itself.  Google is the name of a search engine- and a proper noun.  But it's now used just as much as a verb.  This also happened to 'Xerox' some years ago.

Similarly, other words that were nouns have slipped into usage as verbs.  Among them, text, e-mail, and inbox.  (I doubt I ever get used to hearing "inbox me.")

Of course, it cuts both ways.  at one time, you would invite someone to an event.  In the age of Facebook, many people send an invite instead.  Call me old fashioned, but I prefer to get an invitation.
