ANNISTON - AL -

Rain and heavy winds hit the Anniston area Thursday afternoon, prompting the Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency to activate a crisis team as a precautionary measure.

In a response to a threat of severe weather, all Anniston City schools dismissed its students early. Parents rushed to grocery stores to stock up on food and water just in case.

There was minor flooding on Elm Street in Oxford, but the rain waters quickly dissipated without incident.

One Anniston resident described the weather as fickle.

"Just the other day it was warm, yesterday it was warm and two or three days from now, it's going get cold." Jimmy Pawton said.

There were no reports of injuries or damage in the city.
