JEFFERSON COUNTY - AL -

One man is behind bars at the Jefferson County Jail charged with kidnapping, rape and robbery. A second suspect, also accused in the crime, remains on the loose.  The incident happened on Saturday at around 2:30 p.m.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, the two suspects lured a 22-year-old male and his 18-year-old girlfriend to a secluded dirt road off of Flat Top Road by promising a share of some hidden money in the area in exchange for a ride.

Upon arriving at the location, the two men attacked the couple, cutting the boyfriend on the neck with a knife before tying him to a tree. One of the suspects then attacked the victim's girlfriend and raped her.  The men then took the male victim's car and kidnapped his girlfriend.

Following the attack, the male victim was able to break free, flag down a passerby who gave him a ride to a nearby convenience store where he called for help.

The car was later found in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Brent and the female victim was found inside the store.  Surveillance video captured one of the suspects, 48-year-old Scott Charles Blaisdell, leaving the store when deputies arrived.

A search with the assistance of a K9 unit was conducted, but the suspect was not found.  Later that day, Blaisdell was captured by Bibb County Sheriff's Deputies as he tried to hitchhike out of town. He is charged with rape, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and two counts of kidnapping.

The second suspect, Codi Wayne Miller, 26, remains at-large.  If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at (205) 325-1450.
