A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Fort Payne man early Saturday morning, Alabama State Trooper Curtis Summerville reports.

Fed Quinton Terrell, 68, was pronounced dead on the scene after the 2002 Chevrolet Malibu he was driving on County Road 83, five miles north of Collinsville, ran off the roadway at approximately 4:30 a.m., crashing into a creek.

Trooper Summerville reports that Terrell was not wearing his seat belt and alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident.

The accident is still under investigation.
