Several injured in two separate accidents on I-59 North

Two separate accidents on Interstate 59 North near the Roebuck Parkway exit has shut down all northbound lanes of traffic Tuesday afternoon.

The wrecks occurred approximately one mile from each other at around 3 p.m. today just before the Roebuck Parkway exit. At least four Birmingham Police and Fire rescue units were called to the scene. Crews were seen working to free two victims trapped inside of a mangled sport utility vehicle.

Four people have been transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

ABC 33/40 has a crew at the scene and will provide updates as more information is made available.
