A.G. Gaston's Field of Dreams tonight

Posted: Updated:

You may recall that the A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club was on Talk of Alabama recently to talk about  its 46th Anniversary Celebration Dinner, Field of Dreams.

About 600 guests and alumni will come together tonight, April 2, 2013, at the Sheraton Hotel Ballroom in Birmingham.  Doors open with a 5:30 PM Reception and concludes with a 6:30 PM Dinner Program.  The keynote speaker is George Bodenheimer.

"It has been an honor to chair the 46th Anniversary Celebration Dinner for the A.G. Gaston Boys and Girls Club and welcome my good friend George Bodenheimer to Birmingham," said Don Logan, Dinner Chair.  "We are thankful for the Club's mission and continued commitment to our children and community."

ABC 33/40's Pam Huff will emcee the event.  Our very own Mike Raita will interview Bodenheimer in what's being called "fireside chat."  The evening also includes a children's art sale, and the A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club Choir with their uplifting performances of "God Bless America" and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."  Also included is the public debut of "Arthur George Gaston."  It's  a video produced by the Alabama Power Company on the leadership and legacy of the Club's founder during the Civil Rights Movement.

Here is a little information about the A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club:
"A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club has operated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization since 1966. It is affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a nationwide organization of nearly 4,000 Clubs with a similar core mission of serving some four million children and teens through Club membership and community outreach.  We offer an alternative safe place for Birmingham neighborhood children to stay out of trouble, remain in school and succeed in life."
