Free Tax Help Offered In Bessemer

The Internal Revenue Service is offering a special one-day tax help site on Wednesday, April 3.

It will be held at the Bessemer Civic Center beginning at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tax deadline is April 15th.

If you want to have your tax return prepared, you must bring proof of identification (picture ID), Social Security Cards for you, your spouse and dependants, Birth dates for you, your spouse and your dependants, wage and earning statements from all of your employers, interest and dividend statements from banks, a copy of last year's federal and state returns and proof of bank account routing numbers and account number for direct deposit such as a blank check, total paid for daycare and daycare provider's tax identifying number and to file taxes electronically on a married filing joint tax return, both spouses must be present.

If you cannot make it to the tax help in Bessemer on Wednesday, there are about 20 other free tax help sites in Jefferson County. They will offer help filers who make less than $51,000 in 2012 or who file a simple return. To find the closest site, go to www.irs.gov or call 1-800-906-9887.
