Scott Sutton has been head coach at Oral Roberts University for the past 14 seasons - but every so often, the Omaha, NE native's name is linked to higher-profile jobs.
This off-season is no different - on Thursday ESPN released a report saying Sutton had met with Texas Tech about their head coaching vacancy. Billy Gillispie was forced to resign back in September due to allegations he abused players, and broke NCAA rules for practice time limits.
Tulsa's Channel 8 has found out from Coach Sutton himself that he is not headed to Lubbock, TX. Sutton told John Moss in a text message, "I'm not involved with the job."
The report also tabbed former University of Tulsa head coach Tubby Smith as a possible target for the Red Raiders. Smith was let go by Minnesota earlier this month.
If anything else develops regarding Sutton and other coaching vacancies, we'll have the latest for you here on Tulsa's Channel 8.
