U.S. Attorney's officials say a former judicial candidate has been convicted of attempted child enticement and pornography charges.
A federal jury Wednesday convicted 59-year-old Chuck Hunter of attempting to entice a minor and receiving child pornography over the Internet. Authorities say Hunter tried convincing a person he believed was a 14-year-old boy to engage in a sexual act. Hunter was a Jefferson County Circuit Court candidate but was removed from the ballot after his arrest.
Authorities say an undercover officer, posing as the teenage boy, responded to an Internet advertisement seeking people under the age of 30 for sex. Authorities say the officer identified himself as a child and Hunter arranged to meet with him at a restaurant in Jefferson County.
Hunter is scheduled to be sentenced July 9.
