Gus Malzahn hopes perception is reality as he goes into his first spring as Auburn football coach.

Malzahn has a fast paced, offensive reputation and he plans to push the pace when the Tigers begin spring practice on Wednesday.

"We're going to be a no-huddle team and that's a mentality," Malzahn said on Tuesday. "We're going to learn to play fast, practice fast and do everything fast. We think that will be a definite advantage."

Auburn won't have a depth chart until after spring drills, and one of the most closely followed position battles will be at quarterback. Junior Kiehl Frazier and sophomore Jonathan Wallace spent time as starting quarterback last year, and they'll get first crack at the position this spring.

"The good thing is, they'll get a lot of reps," Malzahn said. "They'll split reps to start. They both need it."

Quarterbacks Nick Marshall and Jeremy Johnson will join the team this summer and get a chance to compete in August.

Auburn gets 15 practices this spring, which will wrap up with it's annual A-Day scrimmage on April 20th.
