BIRMINGHAM - AL -

A Kansas mother and two of her children continue to recover after an airport display board fell on them Friday. It killed her 10 year old son Luke Bresette. Tonight, we heard from the company behind the renovations to the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport.

Brasfield & Gorrie released a statement saying, "Brasfield & Gorrie is diligently working with authorities at Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport to assess the situation that occurred Friday, March 22, in which several people were injured, one fatally, after a flight information sign fell in the newly renovated terminal.

We are deeply sorrowful that a life was lost, and we are prayerful that the injured individuals will recover. This is a terrible tragedy that none of us fully understand, and we hope that the family who has lost their loved one will find strength through prayer and the support of all of us.

Our entire corporate family extends its deepest sympathies to the family affected and will support them in any way we can."

Many people feel that Brasfield & Gorrie should be held accountable, but some travelers say no one should be at fault.

Traveler Cindy Wincek says, "Sounds to me like their (Brasfield & Gorrie) not admitting fault or taking any responsibility."

"I'm not sure what placing blame is going to do to help the situation. I think this is something that should just be learned from. I know that it's really tragic for the family and I understand that there could be a need for justice of some sort. And if something does come out that someone was at fault, I hope that reparations are made," says Aaron Hamblin from Massachusetts.

The FBI Birmingham Citizens Academy Alumni Association will be opening a fund for the Bresette family starting Monday. It will be taking place at all branches of Cadence bank. To donate all you have to do is go to any Cadence bank.
