A little more than one percent of Coca-Cola's workforce in the United States will be lost in the cut backs. The company will eliminate 750 jobs. About 25 percent of those will be from the Atlanta area, where Coke is headquartered.
The cuts take back gains from last year, when Coca-Cola's U-S workforce rose by 900 employees. The cuts are also far less severe than those at Coke's rival, Pepsico, which announced last year that it would cut nearly nine-thousand jobs worldwide by 2014. Less than 2,000 of those, though, would be cut from the U.S. workforce.
