18-year-old Geraldine man arrested for sexual abusing child

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the arrest of Kristopher Lyle Greenwood, 18, of Geraldine on charges of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old. Investigators were called to Geraldine Police Department after a report was filed alleging the abuse. Investigators and DHR case workers interviewed all parties involved and Greenwood was arrested at 10:54 Tuesday night. He was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where he remains awaiting bond. The investigation into this case is continuing.

Harris states “I’m glad we could get this person so quickly. I hope this family can move on and get any help for this child available. Our investigators, DHR, CAC, and the District Attorney all work great together. This quick result is evidence that teamwork is effective.”
