The Atlanta Falcons are a step closer to getting a new stadium.
The Atlanta City Council voted to approve a financing plan to build a new downtown stadium.
The city will use hotel-motel tax revenue to pay the $200 million public contribution for the proposed $1 billion, retractable roof stadium.
The new stadium, which is scheduled to open in 2017, will replace the Georgia Dome as home of Falcon football and the SEC Championship game.
