Latest update from the ABC 33/40 Weather Blog:

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH UNTIL 9:00 p.m: Doesn't really matter where you live, all of North and Central Alabama will have to deal with storms over the next several hours.

As stated here earlier, the main threats are large hail and damaging wind… see the hail earlier this afternoon that came down at Hackleburg (photo from @bigcountry0915)

-------

Golf ball sized hail was reported at Hackleburg a short time ago.

Here is a four panel radar image.

There is an even more impressive hail core now crossing I-22 between Bexar and Hamilton. You can see that in the VIL panel in the lower left hand quadrant of the image.

Red on the hydrometeor classification algorithm shows were the radar thinks there is hail. This is one of the new dual-pol radar products.

The orange boxes are storm reports.

Large hail will continue to be a big threat through the afternoon hours with all of these storms. Damaging winds will also be a possibility and we can't rule out an isolated tornado with the stronger storms.
