BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Samford football players worked out for 13 representatives from 11 different NFL teams at the Bulldogs' annual Pro Day Tuesday morning at Seibert Stadium.

Samford wide receiver Riley Hawkins, safety Alvin Hines II and defensive lineman Nicholas Williams, as well as Miles College's Jordan Lewis all worked out for the scouts Tuesday morning. Williams also performed for scouts at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis last month.

"Even though I had been to the combine, I wanted to come out today and compete in this as well," Williams said. "I ran quicker today than I did at the combine, which is what I wanted to do. I think I performed well today."

Williams ran a 4.86, 40-yard dash at the Pro Day. Hawkins ran the 40 in 4.52 seconds, while Hines finished with a time of 4.71 seconds.

The participants also competed in the 20-yard dash, 10-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, 60-yard shuttle, vertical jump, broad jump and bench press.

"I feel pretty good about the way I did today," Hawkins said. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I appreciate Coach (Pat) Sullivan bringing a Pro Day here, and I appreciate all of the scouts coming out here and giving us a chance to make our dreams come true."

The 2013 NFL Draft will take place April 25-27. The event will be televised live on the NFL Network. Samford will be hoping to have a player drafted for the second-straight year. Last season, Corey White was taken in the fifth round by the New Orleans Saints. White was the highest drafted player in Samford history.
