Woman killed while off-roading near Irondale identified

IRONDALE - AL -

UPDATE: One person has drowned after an off-road vehicle overturned in the Cahaba River around 7:15 p.m. Saturday.

Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates said the body of Kari Danna Thomas, 26, of Remlap was recovered from the river near Irondale/Leeds.

Yates said Thomas and others had been off roading in a remote, deeply wooded area off Floyd Bradford Road when the accident occurred.

The vehicle in which Thomas was riding was recovered around 5:00 a.m. Sunday.

The Irondale Police Department is investigating the accident.

The Irondale Police Department is investigating a car possibly submerged underwater Saturday evening.

Details are minimal at this point, but Irondale police have confirmed that the incident happened near a rural part of Irondale near Floyd Bradford Road near Highway 78.

ABC 33/40 has a crew headed to the scene.
