Your Health: Depression and vision loss

A new study indicates vision loss and depression may be linked.

Researchers found that people with depression are more likely to have self-reported vision loss.

Research in the journal JAMA Ophthalmology suggests the rate of depression was about 11 percent among people with self-reported vision loss and about 5 percent among those who did not report vision loss.

Experts at the U.S. National Institutes of Health analyzed data from more than 10,000 adults aged 20 and older who took part in the U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 2005 and 2008.
