Three Birmingham firefighters injured while working house fire

Three Birmingham Fire and Rescue workers were injured Wednesday night after at least one firefighter became trapped in a house fire.

The firefighters were reported to be trapped around 7:30 p.m. tonight at a home located at 1428 18th Place Southwest in the West End Manor community.

All three victims are being transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries. Their conditions have yet to be determined.

ABC 33/40 has a crew at the scene and will provide updates as information is made available.

Earlier today, another Birmingham firefighter was injured while battling a blaze in East Birmingham. The man suffered a shoulder injury after a pipe fell on him at a house fire located at 923 39th Street North. He was transported to UAB Hospital where is he is expected to make a full recovery.

Update:

Two of the three injured firefighters suffered burns in the house fire at 1428 18th Place SW tonight. A third rescue worker was injured after falling off a ladder while battling the blaze.

All three were taken to UAB Hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

An elderly man living at the house was able to escape the fire unharmed.
