Teen charged with murder for Homewood homicide

Homewood Police arrested an 18-year old for the shooting death of another teenager.  It happened at a Homewood motel last weekend.

Derrick Leimon Sailes, Jr., of Birmingham, is charged with murder.  Police said he shot and killed Jvonte McKinslay Hines, 17, also of Birmingham, just before 3:30a.m. at the Roadway Inn on Oxmoor Road.

According to police, the shooting was a result of an altercation between two groups of people at the Roadway Inn.

Sailes is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

    The Jefferson County Sheriff's department is looking for 48 year old Michael Kennedy. He's wanted on several charges after allegedly setting his ex-girlfriend on fire. Just after 2:30 this morning deputies respond to a report of a house fire in the 4400 block of Nellie Anderson Street.
