K9 added to Oakman Police force

OAKMAN - AL -

The Oakman Police force has a new recruit. "Bella" is a four-year old Belgian malinois trained to detect drugs and alert her handler. The department added her onto the force as a drug detection dog from Central Alabama Police K9 Training Center. The police chief says the public and some businesses donated funds, so the city didn't have to shell out for "Bella."

The rookie is going through training now. Certification could come as early as this week.
