BIRMINGHAM - AL -

The official ribbon cutting for the newly renovated terminal at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport will be Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

Phase one of the modernization project is complete. There is now a centralized checkpoint that allows easy access between the concourses and new concessions.

Phase two will take longer to complete.

The $201 million project will improve safety and efficiency. This is the most significant modernization of the airport since it was built in 1931.
