Relative claims Jimmy Lee Dykes' body

DALE COUNTY - AL -

A relative has claimed the body of the man shot and killed by FBI agents to end a hostage standoff in southeast Alabama.
Dale County Coroner Woody Hilboldt says a family member took custody of the remains of 65-year-old Jimmy Lee Dykes late last week.
Hilboldt says Dykes' remains were taken to Florida, but he's unsure of further arrangements.
Dale County would have had to conduct a pauper's burial for Dykes if the relative hadn't claimed the body.
Authorities say Dykes shot and killed a school bus driver and held a young boy hostage for six days before he was killed by a hostage rescue team on Feb. 4.
Dykes' body was taken to a state forensics laboratory, where it remained after an autopsy until the relative took custody.
