Man and woman from Tuscaloosa arrested after chase in Texas

Brian White and Kayla Smith were arrested Wednesday after leading several law enforcement agencies on a 60 mile chase that ended in Medina County, Texas.

Texas State Troopers say the two fled when border patrol agents tried to search the SUV they were traveling in. Troopers also say the driver of the SUV tried to use it as a battering ram in their attempt to escape.

Troopers attempted to use spike strips on three different occasions, but were unsuccessful. While being pursued, the SUV crossed the median on highway 90 and that is when Troopers opened fire and shot out the rear tires.

The chase ended when a Medina County Sheriff's deputy ran the SUV off the road.
