Robert Bentley on Friday is scheduled to join leaders from the University of Alabama
in Huntsville
for the unveiling of Charger 1. It's a fusion impulse power generator that
will lead to innovative research for deep space travel.
Innovation and research help create and sustain jobs throughout Alabama. Charger 1
was among 15 projects that received grant funding announced by Governor Bentley
in October of 2012. The grants are from the Alabama Innovation Fund,
which supports research and
economic development at public colleges and universities. Charger 1
funding was in the amount of $299,557.
Friday's Charger 1 unveiling is
scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the UAH Aerophysics Research
Center at
Redstone Arsenal. The unveiling will include officials from UAH and
Redstone Arsenal, along with other state and local leaders.
