Birmingham Fire & Rescue confirms that three bodies have been found in the rubble of an abandoned building fire next to the UAB 1917 Community Care Clinic. Another person is recovering at an area hospital from injuries sustained in the fire.
Fire officials say the bodies of a three males were both found dead inside the burned building overnight.
No word yet on what caused the fire.
"We're trying to contact relatives, friends, anyone who might have some information about these people. right now it appears to be an accident. But the investigation is ongoing," says Birmingham Fire Marshall, C. W. Mardis.
The massive blaze broke out around 7:00 Monday night near the UAB campus. One person was injured and taken to the hospital.
Firefighters spent the overnight hours monitoring hot spots.
The 1917 clinic suffered smoke and water damage, it will re-open on Thursday.
