A father and his daughter were injured after a gun he was cleaning
accidentally fired.
Tuscaloosa County Homicide Unit investigators were called by
Northport Police to an accidental shooting. Captain Lloyd Baker with the
homicide unit says a 45-year-old man was cleaning his 9-millimeter pistol when it
accidentally discharged. A bullet struck the man in his left leg. His 6-year-old
daughter was grazed by the projectile after it exited her father's leg.
Both father and daughter were transported to DCH. The 6-year-old
was treated for minor injury and the man is undergoing surgery for his wound.
