Birmingham Board of Education member to resign

ABC3340 news has learned that a Birmingham board of education member will tender her resignation at a meeting Tuesday night.

Alana Edwards says she is resigning to spend more time being a mother and to focus on her family.

Edwards represents District 7. She was elected to the board in 2009.

At around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday night, Alana Edwards Haynes handed in her resignation from the Birmingham Board of Education, ABC 33/40 reporter Sherrie Evans confirmed.
