Auburn basketball turned up the defense and turned away Alabama, 49-37, on Wednesday night.

The Tigers snapped a six game losing streak by limiting the Tide to the lowest total it's ever been held to in the rivalry.

Alabama jumped out to a 15-2 lead and led by ten at halftime.

The lead disappeared as quick as it was built. Auburn opened the second half on a 20-3 run and never looked back.

Auburn's Allen Payne and Josh Wallace scored 11 points a piece.

Trevor Releford and Rodney Cooper each had 11 points for Alabama.
