Update:  Irondale Police has confirmed that they are investigating a homicide following the discovery of skeletal remains in a wooded area Thursday evening.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., hikers called police to report finding a dead body near a ravine located behind the Eastwood Mobile Home Village in Irondale.

Upon arriving, crime scene investigators were forced to setup spotlights on a fire truck to locate the remains. They believe the skeleton has been in that location for a long time.
