BIRMINGHAM - AL -

Hundreds of men, women and children took to the streets of the Magic City, chanting hymns of praise in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King.

They walked from city hall through Kelly Ingram Park to the 16th Street Baptist Church.

Bishop Calvin Woods, president of the Birmingham chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

Says this day means so much to the men and women who marched 50-years-ago, and those who marched today.

"It means that the spirit of justice is still alive. And that we must continue to carry
these things forward, whether it be with many or with few," said Woods.

Following the march, a Civil Rights rally took place at Kelly Ingram Park where people left memorial flowers and took their pictures with Dr. King's statue.
