Van catches fire after accident on Lakeshore Parkway

Birmingham Fire and Rescue at the scene of the car accident and fire in front of the B.Y.O.P. Automotive shop in Birmingham. (abc3340.com)

One person was injured Friday afternoon after a single-vehicle accident on Lakeshore Parkway near the BYOP (Bring Your Own Parts) Automotive shop.

An adult and a child were traveling in a white van that wrecked then caught fire near John Carroll Drive in Birmingham. The adult sustained head injuries in the accident and was transported to UAB Hospital.

A relative was called to the scene to pick up the child.

Birmingham Police are still investigating the incident.
