Chief Deputy Randy Christian reports that road conditions in Jefferson County appear to be improving as Thursday's winter weather system moves out of the area.

The County Roads and Transportation Department is running sand trucks to priority roadways for service. Earlier today, trucks were sent to Oak Grove High School to make the road leading to the school passable for buses and parents. Students were held in the gymnasium for a period of time until the work was completed.

Christian also reports that no one was injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Dug Hollow Road, and that the county's Hummer SUV's responded to Taylor's Ferry Road to assist stranded motorists.
