State and local authorities are urging drivers to take necessary precautions while driving in the wintry mix Thursday. The Alabama Department of Transportation has received several reports of icy road conditions (the link of reports is below).
Furthermore, the Jefferson County Department of Transportation public works coordinator urges drivers to drive carefully over bridges, which normally freeze over first. The department has four trucks loaded with sand to cover roads, if needed. It also has snow plows on stand-by.
