TUSCALOOSA, Ala. Alabama head coach Anthony Grant will participate in the 2013 Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge on behalf of the Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama for the chance to win $100,000 for the charity. Voting opened Tuesday for the 48 participating coaches and charities at www.espn.com/infiniti, and votes can be cast daily.

Grant was a Boys and Girls Club attendee as a youth, along with other familiar names such as actor Denzel Washington and Major League Baseball player Alex Rodriguez, among many others.

It is a main reason Grant, along with his wife Chris, have selected the local Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama chapter as the charity to receive the donation.

"It is a privilege to be a part of the 2013 Infiniti Coaches Challenge," Grant said. "This is for a great cause and it is something that has special meaning for me. Both my wife and I have worked closely with the Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama and we are happy to provide support and assistance to our community and this particular organization."

For more than 100 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (GreatFutures.org) has enabled young people most in need to achieve great futures as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Today, some 4,000 Clubs serve nearly four million young people through Club membership and community outreach. Clubs are located in cities, towns, public housing and on Native American lands throughout the country, and serve military families in BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on U.S. military installations worldwide. They provide a safe place, caring adult mentors, fun and friendship, and high-impact youth development programs on a daily basis during critical non-school hours. Priority programs emphasize academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. In a Harris Survey of alumni, 57 percent said the Club saved their lives.

Infiniti, which is a corporate partner of NCAA men's basketball and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) will donate $5,000 to each of the participating charities and award $100,000 to the winning coach's charity.

The program, expanded last year, pits 48 NABC coaches from the nation's top NCAA Division I men's basketball programs in a fan-vote challenge, with the total Infiniti contribution again exceeding $300,000.

Fan participation will determine the ultimate winner over an eight-week period beginning January 14 by registering and voting on a custom microsite on www.ESPN.com/Infiniti. For the first six weeks, four brackets of 12 coaches will be paired against each other, with the winners from each group moving on to the next round in week seven and the final round in week eight. Fans can vote for one coach per region per day. The winning coach will be announced March 11, 2013.
