Another Bank Robbery:  The Union State Bank in Pelham was robbed by a suspect wanted in connection to at least four other robberies. The suspect handed a note to a teller demanding money before leaving the scene with an unknown amount of cash. Read more

State of the City:  Mayor William Bell gave his State of the City Address at The Harbert Center in downtown Birmingham. Bell discussed the $150 million bond referendum that will be used for street repairs, Railroad Park's growing popularity, a strong emphasis on education and the new Birmingham Baron's ballpark. 6-car Pile-up on Highway 280:  Wet weather was believed to be the cause of a six-car pile-up on Highway 280 near Meadowlark Drive on Tuesday morning. Read more

Manti Te'o fake girlfriend scandal:  Notre Dame's star linebacker Manti Te'o was the victim of an elaborate hoax, the school announced Wednesday after a Deadspin story alleged the woman never existed. Te'o said he had developed an emotional relationship a woman he had met online and was "the victim of what was apparently someone's sick joke." Read more


Walking for peace:  Javier Janik is spending 196 days walking from the East coast to the West coast with the goal to spread a message:  "Love each other as one and love each other unconditionally." Each day represents one of the 196 countries of the world. We caught up with him on day 46 of his journey from Virginia Beach. Read more


Thursday, January 17

Snow in Alabama!:  Snow began to fall in the state Thursday morning and continued throughout the day, causing many schools and businesses to close early. Most places in Central Alabama received a couple of inches of snow, which was just enough for kids to enjoy during their time out of the classroom.  See photos


I-65 closure leaves motorist stranded:  The winter weather that swept through the state on Thursday left many roads slippery and dangerous. After several accidents and a jack-knifed 18-wheeler, State Troopers close an eight-mile stretch of the interstate in both directions, leaving motorists stranded for hours.  Read more


Friday, January 18

School bus crash in St.Clair County: Two adults and a 7-year-old girl were injured after a Pell City school bus collided with a sedan near a bridge in St. Clair County. The child was taken to Children's of Alabama, while the both drivers were transported to UAB Hospital. Read more


1 dead in officer-involved shooting in Oxford:  A man was shot and killed inside a cell phone repair shop after pulling a knife on Oxford Police officers. Police attempted to subdue the man by taser, but were unsuccessful, which in turn led to officers firing their weapons. Read more
