Miss Montana made history Saturday night during the 2013 Miss America Pageant.  18-year-old Alexis Wineman was the first autistic contestant to participate in the competition.

The teen used the event as a platform to promote autism awareness. She says she hopes to spread the message that everyone is different.  Wineman also says she wants to promote a universal acceptance of autism. Her talent was a comedy sketch about body image.

Also, Miss Alabama, 22-year-old Anna Laura Bryan, represented autism awareness through P.A.W.S for Autism.

Bryan won the "Quality of Life" award Thursday night in Las Vegas.  She received a $6,000 scholarship for her personal platform and the Children's Miracle Network.
