Fatal shooting leaves two dead at home in Winewood community (update)

Birmingham Police are investigating a shooting at a home in the east Birmingham neighborhood of Winewood Thursday night that left two people deceased.

Police and rescue workers responded to a shooting call at the 1300 Block of Americana Drive at around 7 p.m. tonight.

Upon arriving, two people were pronounced dead on the scene.

An investigation is ongoing at this time. We will continue to follow this story and provide updates as information is made available.

Update:

Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police Department reports that detectives are investigating the two deaths at a residence in the Winewood community as a murder-suicide.

East Precinct officers responded to the incident location at 7 p.m. to investigate a report of two deceased persons. Upon arrival, officers located both victims inside the residence unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded and pronounced both subjects deceased on the scene.

It is believed the deaths stemmed from a domestic dispute.
