The Etowah County Sheriff's Office says an inmate kitchen worker escaped the Etowah County Detention Center Friday morning.

Officers are searching for a suspect involved in a midtown restaurant robbery that occurred late Wednesday evening.

It happened just after 11:30 p.m. when a Hispanic male entered the Tacos Don Francisco on East 11th Street and demanded money from the man at the register.

Tulsa Police Officer Jillian Roberson told KTUL.com that the suspect entered the restaurant with a black hoodie and mask and was in his 20s. She said after he demanded money he fired a handgun and struck a fridge near the register.

The suspect then grabbed the money from the register and left the restaurant.

Roberson said victims weren't able to determine his direction of travel after leaving the building or if he entered a vehicle following the robbery.

Anyone with information should contact the Tulsa Police Department's Crime Stoppers Unit at (918) 596-COPS.
