ABC 33/40 Chief Meteorologist James Spann collected another award on Wednesday night.

The American Meteorological Society presented Spann the "Award for Broadcast Meteorology" during their annual meeting in Austin, Texas.

The Board of Broadcast Meteorology serves as the selection committee for the award, and Spann was selected for his coverage of the April 27, 2011 tornado event in Alabama.

The committee accepts nominations of individual for their extraordinary work during a demanding weather event.

This is Spann's second honor in the last three months. He was named the "Broadcaster of the Year" by the National Weather Association in October.

Spann thanked his supporters and those who nominated him in a post on the Alabama Weather Blog tonight.

"As a young TV weather anchor, I never dreamed I would have a chance at winning one of these. Winning both back to back is beyond belief." Spann wrote.

"Thanks to those who nominated me, and wrote letters of support."
