What diet will mostly likely work for you and your health?

You may find your answer in the latest U.S. News & World Report's rankings of the Best Diets 2013 .

Rated the best overall diet... The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, also known as the DASH diet .

It beat out 28 others, including Jenny Craig, Slim-Fast and Atkins.

The Dash diet limits sodium intake and takes in fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Weight Watchers ranked the best of 12 commercial diet programs.

The Mediterranean diet was the best plant-based diet.

Criteria experts weighed included short and long-term weight loss, how easy they are to follow, potential health risks, current nutrition standards, and their ability to prevent and control diabetes and heart disease.

The DASH diet was developed by the National Institutes of Health.
