A couple hundred people paid their respects to the family of Jordan Smith. The 17-year-old student pilot died last Tuesday night along with two other teens when the plane he was flying crashed in Walker County.

Tears and hugs over the lost of 17-year-old Jordan Smith who loved to fly and was loved by many.

Family friend, Savannah Gilbert, says "He had such a big heart and would do anything for anybody. He was truly a great all around kid."

The student pilot, along with friends Jordan Montgomery and Brandon Ary, died nearly a week ago in a plane crash. Tommy Smith was serving in Afghanistan when he learned about his son. He says the family has been overwhelmed by all the support. "That has helped me an my wife get through this.. just people we don't know that has come up and told us how much they loved Jordan."

Smith says he doesn't know much about the night his son died. It's still unclear why the plane crashed. But Smith says his son was a good pilot and the family wants people to know Jordan made a difference in many lives. "I'm going to remember Jordan, the way Jordan lived. This is a step, to bury the life, but my son.. I will remember him and how he lived."

And the same goes for many friends, co-workers and classmates from Meek High School, like Brooke Ary, who attended her brother Brandon's funeral just yesterday. "I keep a smile on my face because the boys wouldn't want me to be upset."

Angel Lanier grew up with Smith and says "I keep thinking I'm still going to walk into school and see him hug me, punch me, throw something at me. It's hard."

After the crashed happened, authorities said the plane was stolen and Smith and two of his friends were on a joyride. But, there's conflicting information in the case. While the attorney for the plane's owner says smith never had permission to fly the plane, Smith's mother says that's not true. The investigation is on-going.
